2017 in Review: Progress in public health across the WHO European Region
In 2017, the countries of the WHO European Region further integrated the Sustainable Development Goals into their national agendas, and made progress towards meeting the objectives of the Health 2020 policy framework.
Despite ongoing challenges – ranging from political upheaval to protracted emergencies, from outbreaks of communicable diseases to the continuing epidemic of noncommunicable diseases – the year was marked by many important health achievements and actions taken to ensure better health and well-being for all in the Region. Many of these activities and milestones from the year are highlighted below.
WHO/Europe looks forward to extending its collaboration with Member States and other partners further next year, realizing a healthy and productive 2018.
