European ambassadors briefed on this year’s Regional Committee agenda
On 8 September, WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab briefed ambassadors, counsellors and senior representatives from 30 embassies in Copenhagen, Denmark on health issues to be discussed next week at the annual meeting of the governing body for the WHO European Region, the WHO Regional Committee for Europe.
The Regional Committee’s 64th session will take place in Copenhagen on 15–18 September 2014. The agenda includes the first report on the implementation of the European health policy framework, Health 2020; a strategy for investing in children; action plans on vaccines and food and nutrition; WHO reform; and the outcomes of conferences organized by WHO/Europe.
In addition, the Regional Committee will nominate a WHO Regional Director for Europe to serve a five-year term.
The four-day programme also includes 6 progress reports on: HIV/AIDS, alcohol use, injury prevention, the European environment and health process, child and adolescent health and antimicrobial resistance.
