Multiple reform challenges for Slovenia

The new HiT on Slovenia highlights the major items on the reform agenda, including securing the health system's financial sustainability through diversifying its funding base; strengthening primary preventive services and co-ordination of care; overhauling purchasing and provider payment systems; and the wholesale restructuring of long-term care financing and provision.

Armed with its recent exercise in evidence-based policy-making (through a comprehensive health system review) and the newly adopted National Health Plan, much of the ground work for strategic reform planning is already in place. The next steps will be to translate this work into concrete actions in the chosen priority areas.

The new HiT on Slovenia will be presented at a special event in Ljubljana on 16th June 2016 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Ljubljana Charter.
