New comparative HiT on pharmaceutical regulation in Europe
Time and again policy-makers are asked to balance patient access to effective medicines against affordability, particularly in times of rising costs. This new review, published as a special edition of the Health Systems in Transition series, investigates how regulatory measures help address this challenge. It spans marketing authorization to generic substitution and explores a sample of 16 European health systems to understand how regulation affects medicine price levels and usage. The review’s combination of systematically presented information and analysis will help the health policy debate focus on the questions that really matter for European patients.
