Policy briefs on fostering cross-border collaboration for the Maltese presidency

Two new policy briefs have been produced to inform discussions under the Maltese EU Presidency in 2017 on how to promote structured cross-border collaboration in health care at European Union level.

The first one draws on the experience of different cross-border collaborations in highly specialized health care in order to address health workforce challenges that countries face. It identifies the factors that can enable or block structured cooperation and describes the institutional framework in place. It also examines the policy implications for supporting structured cooperation in the European Union.

The second one examines the legal framework put in place by the European Union to foster voluntary cross-border collaboration in the field of public procurement of health technologies. It looks at recent experiences and developments in cross-border collaboration across Europe, and explores the challenges and opportunities that such cross-border collaboration presents.
