New Eurohealth on Access to Care

Gaining access to the health care services that a person needs is one of the cornerstones of universal coverage.

This 2017 Winter Issue of Eurohealth takes the theme of “Rights to health care” for the Eurohealth Observer section looking at children’s universal right to health care in the EU, and inequality and inequity in the use of long-term care services in Europe. The International section covers the following topics:

  • Headline indicators for structured monitoring of health system performance in Europe;
  • Addressing vaccine hesitancy in the ‘post-truth’ era; and
  • Early intervention to reduce the burden of brain disorders.

Then, the Systems and Policies section discusses the potential of state-run civilian and volunteer services to address long-term care shortages in Switzerland; the Portuguese health system in the aftermath of austerity; and policy efforts to strengthen public hospitals in Israel, followed by Eurohealth Monitor.
