Crown Princess of Denmark to address WHO/Europe’s annual meeting of ministers

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was presented with flowers as she arrived at the Budapest Congress Centre on the opening day of the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe.

Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess of Denmark will address the 68th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe on 17 September 2018, in her capacity as WHO/Europe Patron.

This will be the 8th occasion upon which The Crown Princess will speak before ministers and high-level delegates at WHO/Europe’s annual governance meeting.

Her Royal Highness became Patron of WHO/Europe in 2005, and since that time she has actively advocated for WHO’s work in a number of areas, most notably maternal, child and adolescent health, as well as for health promotion and disease prevention in areas including immunization and antimicrobial resistance.

This year’s meeting will take place in Rome, Italy from 17-20 September. Key topics on the agenda include a new strategy on men’s health, implementing the roadmap for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, realizing the full potential of the European Vaccine Action Plan, financial protection in the Region and an action plan to improve public health preparedness and response.

The European health report 2018 will also be officially launched during the Regional Committee meeting, giving a snapshot on progress being made to improve health and well-being in the Region, as well as remaining challenges.
