Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab was WHO Regional Director for Europe from 1 February 2010 until 30 September 2019. She is currently Deputy-Director of WHO, having been appointed to this position by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General in March 2019.
On 17 September 2019, Member States in the WHO European Region nominated Dr Hans Kluge for the position of WHO Regional Director for Europe. Dr Kluge is due to take up his post in early February 2020, subject to approval by WHO’s Executive Board.
