Country cooperation strategy (CCS) signed with Cyprus
The Ministry of Health of Cyprus and WHO signed a memorandum of understanding on the CCS, which provides a medium-term strategic framework for their joint work in 2015–2020.
The CCS creates a platform for mutually beneficial collaboration that addresses the country’s health needs, interests and capacities, and WHO’s global health leadership priorities, regional orientations and core functions.
Signed on 16 September 2014 by Professor Philippos Patsalis, Minister of Health of Cyprus, and Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe, the CCS covers 4 strategic priorities for collaboration:
- promoting the Health 2020 policy framework;
- exchanging information and expertise in endorsing a life-course approach to healthy ageing;
- strengthening cooperation on ensuring the sustainability of national health systems; and
- promoting cross-border collaboration in health.
Portugal, Switzerland and the Russian Federation have also signed CCSs with WHO.
