Launch of Decade of Action on Road Safety 2011–2020 in Hungary

On 11 May 2011, the WHO Country office, Hungary, along with the Ministry of Development, the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) (and other nongovernmental organizations in Hungary), the national police and the national transport authority launched the campaign, Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. A press conference was held for the main media channels. At the end of the event, all stakeholders signed an agreement.

In the evening, motorcycles starting from different ends of Budapest met at Florian Square, where a candlelight memorial was constructed to commemorate people who have died in road accidents.

Following European Union recommendations, Hungary is about to launch its second road safety action plan, covering 2011-2013.
