World No Tobacco Day in Hungary

On 31 May, World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) celebrations in Hungary began with a press conference announcing that the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán was granted the WNTD award.

The event highlighted the recent tobacco control steps that have taken place in Hungary including the recent tobacco control laws which include force of ban on smoking in all public places.

The conference was held jointly with Miklos Szocksa, Minister of State for Health and the award was announced by the Prime Minister office, the Minister of Health, and the WHO Country Office. The official ceremony will take place in October where WHO Director-General Margaret Chan will present the certificate and medal to the Prime Minister.
