Training for journalists inTajikistan on health impact of climate change

Training of journalists

A training workshop for media professionals working with climate change and health was held 4-5 March 2011 in Tajikistan. The training was coordinated by the WHO/Europe Country Office in Tajikistan and was led by a correspondent from Radio "Sadoi Dushanbe" and a professor from Tajik State Medical University.

The aims of the workshop were to increase awareness and knowledge on climate change and its impact on health and to build skills on creating effective press products.  

The workshop was attended by journalists working in the health sector from Dushanbe, Kurgan-Tube, Kulyab and the Sughd region. The training included intensive interviews, discussions and group work, followed by presentations and joint practical work. During the training two television programs on the aspects of climate change and an interview of medical personnel were shown, after which the content was discussed. At the end of the training participants were given a practical test and were awarded with certificates.
