Improving access to safe drinking-water in rural Tajikistan
WHO/Europe has provided expert advice and construction materials to rural communities in the Hamadoni and Panjakent districts of Tajikistan, to improve the population’s access to systems supplying safe drinking-water. The systems being built to protect water from pollutants are planned to be completed in the near future. This work is part of a pilot project under way in two regions.
The safe-water project carried out in collaboration by the WHO Country Office, Tajikistan and the Ministry of Health, with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany. It is part of a broader scheme for protecting health from climate change.
