Tajikistan is taking crucial steps to improve access to quality health care with a continued commitment from WHO to support the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in this process.

Within the framework of the European Union project “Technical assistance in support of health care reform” and in line with the National Health Development Strategy 2010-2020, delegates from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, health care organizations and development partners met with leading specialists from the Tajik State Medical University and Dr Pavel Ursu, WHO Representative in Tajikistan, to discuss how to improve access to quality health care by developing a set of clinical guidelines.

Dr Rakhmonov, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, stressed the importance of the meeting and future discussions on the health care reform process.

Dr Pavel Ursu, WHO Representative in Tajikistan, also provided the group with a comprehensive list of available web resources for evidence-based medicine for further discussion and presented international experiences in developing clinical guidelines.
