Let’s stop HIV together - awareness raising campaign on Youth Day in Tajikistan

Prevention of HIV/AIDS and the importance of a healthy lifestyle were the main messages of a Youth Day celebration in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 23 May 2014.

Over the course of the day several shows were performed by groups of students and young people. The event was organized by the WHO Country Office in  Tajikistan  in cooperation with the Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism of Sino district as part of a United Nations Joint Advocacy Project on HIV/AIDS. 

“Today's youth is going to build tomorrow's future.They should have awareness about the preventive measures of HIV/AIDS virus”, underlined Mr. Gulomov Sunatullo, Coordinator of cultural events of the Committee. 

Rukhshona, a 20-year-old student and active participant of the activity agreed: “Students must be encouraged to bring about awareness and people should be taught clearly the preventive methods and symptoms of HIV/AIDS”.

About 5000 information, education and communication materials on HIV/AIDS prevention were disseminated among young people during the Youth Day event.
