New Tajik guideline on strengthening surveillance of brucellosis in humans and food animals

The Government of Tajikistan developed a national guideline on strengthening the surveillance of brucellosis in humans and in food animals. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population approved the guideline in August 2015.

An intersectoral workshop on strengthening the surveillance of brucellosis in Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe on 8 December 2015. It was held as part of the implementation of WHO-supported food safety activities in Tajikistan, which emphasizes intersectoral collaboration and information sharing.

The event brought together about 30 professionals from public health and veterinary institutions to discuss the epidemiology of brucellosis. Participants also learned about enforcement of the guidelines and its recommendations for the prevention of human and animal cases and control of brucellosis.
