Tajikistan and Uzbekistan endorse national strategic plans for the development of laboratory services using WHO guidance documents
Tajikistan's Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population recently approved the country's national strategic plan for the development of laboratory services. This is the latest result of the collaboration between Tajikistan's National Multisectoral Laboratory Working Group and WHO/Europe’s Better Labs for Better Health initiative, which aims to provide sustainable improvements to the quality of all national laboratories that deal with health.
This national strategic plan was developed within the National Health Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2010–2020. It reflects the values of Health 2020, the International Health Regulations, a One Health approach and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The Government of Uzbekistan will conduct a consultation on the country’s national laboratory policy and strategic plan with partners on 10 April 2017, after which it is expected that the document will be endorsed.
Two of WHO/Europe’s guidance documents for developing national laboratory strategic plans and policies are among the tools being used in the collaborations with the working groups. These documents are now publicly available and can be downloaded using the links below.
