Series of Good practice briefs on addressing noncommunicable disease from a health systems perspective now available
The work programme on the Health systems' response to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) has reached a new milestone in 2015, having launched a series of Good practice briefs aimed at offering insight into practical and real-world means for addressing NCD challenges. The Briefs provide examples from Member States of successful approaches to scale up cost-effective population and individual services for NCDs. The Brief from Hungary on the public health product tax highlights the importance of well-functioning, intersectoral mechanisms. The Brief from Estonia, which focuses on pay for performance in primary health care, underscores the importance of a systemic approach.
