National workshop on Essential Public Health Functions in Slovenia, 13 April 2011

A national workshop on Essential Public Health Functions in Slovenia will take place in Bled, 13 April 2011 where approximately 80 national and international experts are expected to participate.

The workshop itself is part of the activities agreed upon between WHO and Slovenia in the Biennial Collaborative Agreement 2010–2011. The conclusions reached at this workshop will serve as valuable input to the National Public Health Strategy.

Short presentations will be followed by panel discussions on the following Essential Public Health Functions: 

  • surveillance and assessment of population health;
  • identifying health problems and health hazards in the community;
  • preparedness and planning for public health emergencies;
  • health protection operations; and
  • disease prevention.
