Policy dialogue on public health services strengthening for improved NCD prevention and control, Astana, Kazakhstan, 27-29 June 2012

WHO/Europe is organizing a policy dialogue on public health services strengthening for improved noncommunicable disease prevention and control, in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 28-29 June 2012, for the Newly Independent States (NIS).

The NIS are showing a growing interest in and demand for the implementation of public health reforms, and progress has been made in many areas.  Efforts to strengthen public health services and capacities are an integral part of addressing the challenges for improving health in Europe.

This policy dialogue is a unique opportunity for Ministries of Health to discuss the state of the art on health systems for NCDs, and more specifically the implementation of the Essential Public Health Operations (EPHO) endorsed by the European Ministers of Health at the Regional Committee in Baku, Azerbaijan, September 2011.

It is also part of preparations for a high-level meeting on noncommunicable conditions that will take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 10-11 December 2012.
