Seminar strengthens leadership to implement public health reforms in Ukraine
High-level staff of the Ukraine Public Health Centre and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine benefited from a seminar organized in Kiev, on 20–21 April, to strengthen leadership for the ongoing large-scale public health reforms in the country.
The workshop, organized by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the WHO Country Office in Ukraine, and the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), also aimed to develop efficient collaborative practices among high-level public health staff.
Participants in the seminar learned about group development phases when working towards a common goal. Representatives from various public health institutes in Europe shared their experiences in the use of modern public health approaches, and contributed to the discussions on management and coaching methods to solve challenges faced as leaders and as team members.
The leadership strengthening activity is a deliverable under the joint agenda for action of the Coalition of Partners for Strengthening Public Health Capacities and Services in the European Region. It was designed and facilitated by Marcus Jönsson, the Human Resources Director of the Swedish Public Health Agency, and was financially supported by WHO and the Swiss Development Cooperation Fund.
