WHO conducts assessment of childhood hospital care in Belarus


A WHO mission conducted an assessment of the quality of childhood hospital care in Minsk and Mogilev Region, Belarus on 11–19 September 2017.

WHO expert Dr Bayan Babaeva, in collaboration with national specialists assigned by the Ministry of Health, visited children’s hospitals in Minsk, Mogilev, Bobruisk and Molodechno.

The assessment was carried out using the WHO assessment tool on the quality of hospital care. Feedback and the main findings and recommendations were discussed with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, academic chairs for children’s diseases at the medical universities, and the children’s hospitals assessed, during a workshop in Minsk on 19 September.

The Ministry of Health confirmed its commitment to collaborate with WHO to update clinical protocols on childhood care and rational use of childhood hospital care in the next biennium, 2018–2019.
