11th Congress of the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health “Culture, Communication, Contraception”, The Hague, Netherlands, 19-22 May, 2010

2500 participants from all over Europe and many other parts of the world gathered in the Hague in May to discuss preventive sexual and reproductive health strategies that take into account the specific cultural, economic, ethnic and religious characteristics of population in the multicultural Europe. WHO Regional Office for Europe in close collaboration with the Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR) in WHO Headquarters in Geneva organized workshop "WHO documents and guidelines". Regional experience was presented by G. Lazdane, Regional Adviser for Sexual and Reproductive Health, and actively discussed by participants from many countries of Eastern Europe and central Asia as well as western European countries

The WHO exhibit stand was one of the most popular stands of the exhibition and the Medical eligibility criteria wheel that can be used at very primary health care was most in demand. Participants from Russian speaking countries appreciated the availability and demonstration of "The WHO Reproductive Health Library" that is now available in Russian.

Plans for future collaboration with the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health as well as with professional organizations from European countries were discussed and will assist further dissemination of the WHO guidelines and tools and achievement of the universal access to reproductive health.
