WHO Europe concludes two-day technical consultation on a European strategy for women's health
On 16–17 December 2015, technical experts gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark to discuss strategic directions and key areas for action of a European strategy for women's health 2017–2021. This is the first consultation in the strategy development process, aiming to conclude in September 2016 with a resolution by the 66th session of the Regional Committee for Europe.
The consultation brought together key experts in women's health and other related areas – such as policy development, health systems, mental health, healthy ageing and the social determinants of health – representing national and local governments, academia, United Nations agencies, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, specialized agencies of the European Commission and civil society. The consultation discussed some of the latest evidence in field and how a European strategy for women's health can be instrumental in accelerating international and national processes relating to health and health equity in Europe.
A first draft of the strategy will be discussed by the Standing Committee of the Regional Committee for Europe at its next meeting in March 2016
