European HIV-Hepatitis Testing Week: 20–27 November 2015

It is estimated that 2.5 million people are living with HIV in the WHO European Region, with 30–50% unaware of their HIV status. This year, European Testing Week (20–27 November 2015) comes at an important time, with the recent launch of the WHO Consolidated guidelines on HIV testing services and the imminent release of the WHO Guidelines on testing for hepatitis B and C.

Organizers of European Testing Week stated: "WHO guidelines will be critical to the scale-up of testing services within countries, and serve as a reminder of the need for policy and policy implementation. This is important as few countries have hepatitis testing policies, and both the guidelines and European Testing Week provide opportunities for exploring effective ways of increasing awareness and access to testing, including the integration of hepatitis testing into existing HIV testing services and viceversa, where appropriate."
