Launch event for “HIV in the European Region: vulnerability and response”

The World Bank Group, WHO/Europe and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine will release findings and recommendations from a new assessment of HIV epidemics and vulnerability in Europe at a launch event on 7 June 2013 in London, United Kingdom.

The report presents a systematic analysis of the dynamics of the HIV epidemic, the factors shaping HIV epidemics, and the vulnerability and responses of the 53 countries of the WHO European Region, as well as Liechtenstein. The findings focus on key populations: people who inject drugs, sex workers and men who have sex with men.

The launch event, Maintaining the Momentum: HIV epidemics in Europe: Vulnerability & Response, will focus on policy priorities for the Region, in light of the social and structural factors driving the HIV epidemic in Europe. It will be followed by a debate among high-level experts and policy-makers on how to maintain the momentum to prevent and respond to HIV.

The event will be webcast live from 14:30 (BST)/15:30 (CEST) on Friday, 7 June. Follow the debate on Twitter #HIVeuro.
