Minister of Health of the Russian Federation signs agreement with WHO/Europe
WHO Regional Director for Europe, Zsuzsanna Jakab, and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, signed a biennial collaborative agreement for 2016–2017 in Moscow on 29 February 2016.
The agreement outlines priorities for collaboration in support of national health policies and plans in line with WHO's programme budget 2016–2017, adopted by the Sixty-eighth World Health Assembly in resolution WHA68.1 in 2015. It also builds on the country cooperation strategy between WHO and the Russian Federation for 2014–2020.
The Minister and the Regional Director also discussed strengthening bilateral collaboration in several priority areas, such as HIV/AIDS, health statistics, noncommunicable diseases and tuberculosis control, in the context of preparations for a ministerial conference on tuberculosis to be jointly organized by WHO and the Russian Federation in 2017.
