Leading the way to end TB: a call for good practices

WHO is soliciting European Member States, partners and communities to share, before 15 April 2018, their good practices for addressing tuberculosis (TB) through:

  • integrated patient-centred care and prevention;
  • bold policies and supportive systems; and
  • intensified research and innovation.

The goal of this initiative is to capitalize on existing excellence and effective efforts taken to adapt the Tuberculosis action plan for the WHO European Region 2016–2020 to the specific needs of countries and communities.

The Region is halfway through the implementation of the action plan, which was endorsed at the 65th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe in 2015. National and international partners are now called to accelerate efforts for stronger impact, building on pooled knowledge and lessons learned.

The collection of practices will be published in a compendium before the 68th session of the Regional Committee in September 2018. It will guide actions on strengthening prevention, treatment and care of TB and multidrug- and extensively drug-resistant TB towards ending the disease.
