New report provides insights into alcohol consumption and policy in Croatia
A new report, published by WHO/Europe, provides a situation analysis of alcohol consumption, alcohol-related harm and existing policy measures in Croatia. The report also explores areas that would benefit from further strengthening. The author concludes that the launch of a comprehensive alcohol strategy and a national action plan would help in combating the harms related to alcohol use, as would the establishment of some form of high-level state and independent body or council. Dr Iva Pejnović Franelić, author of the report, says: “a great deal of work has been undertaken, but there is still a long way to go to reduce the harmful use of alcohol. Multisectoral is a vital component for progress and we particularly need to pay attention to young people and support them in building and maintaining a healthy lifestyle”.
