Exchange of experiences in physical activity and sports promotion in children and adolescents

How to improve exchanges between organizations and institutions active in the promotion of physical activity or sports among children and adolescents?

This HEPA Europe working group, co-lead by Ms Elaine Murtagh, University of Limerick, Ireland and Ms Anna Chalkley, Loughborough University, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is focusing on successful and evidence-based interventions and approaches for HEPA promotion in and around schools and started collecting and comparing national examples from several countries.

Previous activities included the analysis of selected national approaches to promoting physical activity and sports in children and adolescents, and in the development of guidance, experiences and learning and their possible application to future and existing initiatives. The study, based on 6 projects, was supported by 7 institutions from 6 countries.

Members of the working group have also been involved in the joint WHO/DG SANCO project to "Promote networking and action on healthy and equitable environments for physical activity" (PHAN) and the development of a blueprint for what makes a physical activity project "youth friendly".
