European Immunization Week features week of guest bloggers

All 53 countries in the WHO European Region are taking part in the seventh European Immunization Week (EIW): 21–27 April 2012. As part of WHO/Europe’s activities on the regional level, the EIW campaign site features guest bloggers each day. They are addressing issues related to immunization from a variety of perspectives.

The guest bloggers include representatives from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, the GAVI Alliance and the Measles Initiative. WHO/Europe’s partners, such as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), are also contributing featured blogs, as are other immunization experts and advocates, such as Christine Mosler, mother and author of the blog “Thinly Spread”.

In addition, members of the campaign site are sharing information, pictures and videos from activities in countries. Visit the campaign site to join this community of EIW supporters, and check in daily through 27 April to read all the posts from featured guest bloggers.

Background: EIW campaign site

In 2010, WHO/Europe launched the site to support EIW, its annual immunization awareness initiative. It provides an online space where focal points from participating countries, and other stakeholders, can share information on and discuss their EIW activities and immunization more broadly. The campaign site now has over 200 members, including EIW focal points, staff of WHO and partner organizations, and interested people in relevant fields of work.
