Task Force on Health Aspects of Air Pollution meets on 11–12 June 2013

The WHO-led Task Force on Health Aspects of Air Pollution, established within the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution, will meet in Bonn, Germany, 11–12 June 2013.  The discussion will focus  on air pollutants, such as particulate matter (PM) and ozone, and on how evidence of their health effects can be used in the planned revision of the air quality policy of the European Union.

Other issues on the agenda include evaluation of the health impact of biomass combustion from residential heating and possible ways to mitigate this source of indoor and outdoor air pollution. The Task Force will also evaluate progress in monitoring and modelling air pollution exposure in the countries that are signatories of the Convention, in particular in countries of eastern Europe, the Caucasus and central Asia.
