WHO to present findings on health effects of air pollution at Green Week Conference 2013

Each year, the European Commission organizes a major conference focusing on environment policy, known as "Green Week". This year's Green Week Conference takes place from 4 to 7 June 2013 in Brussels, Belgium with the theme "Cleaner air for all".

WHO/Europe will organize two sessions of the 2013 Green Week Conference, on "Evidence on health effects of air pollution" and on "Quantifying the impacts of air pollution on human health – 20 years of method development in the European Union and internationally", where it will present findings from its latest work on health aspects of air pollution. WHO’s evidence-based advice will support the comprehensive revision of European Union (EU) air quality policies taking place in 2013.

Green Week offers a unique opportunity for debate and the exchange of experiences and best practices. Over the past decade, the conference has established itself as an event for anyone involved with protecting the environment. The 2012 edition attracted about 3300 participants from government, business and industry, nongovernmental organizations, academia and the media.
