New steps towards assessing environmental health inequalities in Europe
A WHO expert group is working to support European policy-makers in developing adequate policies and actions to reduce environmental health inequalities. At their second meeting in Bonn, Germany, on 16-17 June 2011, experts progressed the development of a report assessing environmental health inequalities in Europe, to be published in early 2012.
The report will describe the patterns and magnitude of environmental health risk exposures and outcomes for different population subgroups. Based on a core set of 14 indicators, addressing housing-, injury- and environment-related inequalities, the assessment will also include national fact sheets and examples of good practices in reporting environmental health inequalities.
