To celebrate 25 years of Belfast being a World Health Organization Healthy City, Belfast Healthy Cities held a special celebration event on Friday 29 November 2013 which included the presentation of awards in the areas of promoting health equity; child friendly spaces; healthy ageing; active living; healthier environments and healthy and sustainable food.

We were delighted to welcome as Keynote Speaker and Honorary Chair of the Awards, Dr Agis Tsouros, who shared his observations on the on-going implementation of the new European policy and strategy for health and well-being - Health 2020.  Dr Tsouros is Director of Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being in the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe and leads the WHO European Healthy Cities Network.
