On 5 April 2013, President and Secretary General of the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG), Professor Helmut Brand and Ms Dorli Kahr-Gottlieb, respectively, met with Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe, and senior managers at WHO/Europe to discuss collaboration between the two organizations. The meeting also provided an opportunity for Professor Brand, EHFG President since October 2012, to gain a deeper understanding of WHO’s work.

WHO/Europe and EHFG collaboration

EHFG has been a major partner of WHO/Europe since it was established in 1998. For example, it has provided a platform for discussing and promoting Health 2020, the European policy for health and well-being, among decision-makers in the European public health community.

16th European Health Forum Gastein

The 16th European Health Forum Gastein will take place on 2–4 October 2013 in Bad Hofgastein, Austria, addressing the theme “resilient and innovative health systems for Europe”. WHO/Europe will take an active role, showcasing the discussions and key outcomes of its work on health systems, such as the Tallinn Charter: “Health Systems for Health and Wealth” and its upcoming meeting on health systems in times of global economic crisis.
