European Public Health Alliance to support Health 2020 implementation
A delegation from the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) met with senior staff from WHO/Europe on 27 October 2015, to lay the foundation for future cooperation and collaboration. In discussions with Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe, Archie Turnbull, the new EPHA President agreed to officially support the implementation of Health 2020, using his organization's strong advocacy role in public health in Europe. The contribution of health in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) was also discussed.
The meeting provided an opportunity for EPHA representatives to meet WHO/Europe staff working in key areas of mutual interest, including alcohol use, nutrition, health impact assessments, governance for health and antimicrobial resistance.
