Snapshot from Across Europe: Successful Nutrition Policies
Concerted and comprehensive action in the area of food and nutrition is recognised as a priority for the European region in order to tackle the burden of overweight, obesity and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and to eliminate pockets of undernutrition. The 64th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe unanimously adopted the European Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2015-2020, which recommends a comprehensive package of policies to respond to this challenge.
Experience from across the Region shows that concrete policy action to promote healthy diets can improve nutrition and population health. The good practice examples discussed in our “Snapshot from Across Europe: Successful Nutrition Policies” can inspire other countries within the region to take action and design effective policies when implementing the European Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2015-2020.
