The programme for the WHO European Ministerial Conference on Nutrition, Physical Activity and Noncommunicable Diseases in the Context of Health 2020 is structured around a series of ministerial panels, each introduced by a keynote speech and moderated by a renowned journalist, scientist or advocate.
The Conference will be officially opened by the host country, Austria, represented by high-level officials, and WHO.
The main themes of the Conference include:
- a whole-of-government approach to promoting well-being in the European Region;
- specific cost-effective policies to tackle diet-related noncommunicable diseases (NCDs);
- childhood obesity and inequalities in the European Region;
- the future of monitoring and surveillance of diet and physical activity related NCDs.
A ministerial declaration on nutrition and NCDs is expected to be discussed during the Conference, along with a new WHO European action plan on food and nutrition.
