Consultation for the development of a Global Fund TB strategy in eastern Europe and central Asia (EECA)
13 November 2013, Copenhagen, Denmark
Based on the "Global Fund Strategy 2012-2016: Investing for Impact”, the regional strategy and investment framework will aim to align and contribute to existing regional initiatives and plans such as "The Consolidated Action Plan to Prevent and Combat Multidrug- and Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (M/XDR-TB) in the WHO European Region, 2011–2015".
The development of the Global Fund EECA regional strategy and investment framework aims to:
- build consensus on the strategic priorities and approaches to addressing the (MDR)-TB and HIV epidemics in the region;
- contribute to addressing potential mismatch/gaps between the current epidemiological trends and programs focus, including but not limited to the Global Fund grants;
- inform applicant countries and partners, under the new funding model, of the Global Fund’s strategic investment priorities and principles to maximize impact in EECA;
- stimulate countries to develop/review appropriate TB national strategic plans when appropriate.
Participants of the Consultation will include representatives of the EECA Global Fund Board constituency and other Board constituency representatives, regional and international partners and Global Fund Secretariat representatives.
