The impact of implementation of 'Beyond the numbers' approach in improving maternal and perinatal health

Since 2004 a large number of countries in the WHO European Region have adopted and implemented WHO "Beyond the numbers"(BTN) approaches for maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity audit. Several countries of the Region are implementing perinatal audit to develop recommendations for improvement of the quality of care during preconception and antenatal period, in labour and during the first 7 days of life.

The technical review meeting will gather a number of key professionals form the countries where WHO has assisted implementation of BTN approaches of maternal morbidity and mortality audit using and exchanging experience with the countries having more than 60 years of experience, such as United Kingdom.
