Launch of Flu Awareness Campaign

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Serbia will be the first Member States in the WHO European Region to launch the Flu Awareness Campaign on Thursday, 30 October 2014. The initiative was conceived as an extension of European Immunization Week, which takes place every year in April. The Flu Awareness campaign aims to increase uptake of seasonal influenza immunization and is held in the fall – at the beginning of the influenza season.

The first year in 2013 focussed mainly on providing additional materials on the WHO/Europe website and social media activity. This year, 6 Member States have been invited to participate and to actively promote seasonal influenza immunization in identified risk groups, namely older people, pregnant women and people with underlying health conditions.
