Launch of the project on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs)

High-level representatives of the 53 WHO European Member States will meet to formulate the objectives and workplan of a new project aiming to build capacity in the Region to combat avoidable NCDs through better data, more effective prevention and evidence-based disease management. The conference to launch the NCD project will include:
  • presentation of the workplan for the project, and a discussion of priorities and projects within it, including a proposal for a tobacco roadmap;
  • an opportunity to contribute to the strategy, scope and purpose of the Second Global Ministerial Conference on Healthy Lifestyles and Noncommunicable Diseases Control, proposed to be held in Moscow in 2016; and
  • presentation of the achievements of countries’ responses to NCDs in the WHO European Region in the last three years.

Information to participants

Participation at the conference is by invitation only.  Delegations from all 53 European Member States are invited to attend the conference which will be held in English and Russian languages. Participants will stay at Hotel Metropol in the historical centre of Moscow.
