Meeting of the regional Green Light Committee for Europe (European rGLC)
9–10 December 2014, Copenhagen, Denmark
In response to the need to strengthen and combat tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) in the WHO European Region the regional Green Light Committee for Europe (GLC)/Europe) was established in 2010. The GLC/Europe serves as an independent advisory board on M/XDR-TB, hosted by WHO Regional Office for Europe.
Its role is ever more significant particularly in view of:
- the new TB drug introduction;
- the need for countries to ensure effective prevention, treatment and care of TB and M/XDR-TB, to foster best possible treatment outcomes and reduce TB transmission and human suffering.
The meeting will discuss and outline the way forward for further expansion of programmatic management of drug resistant TB (PMDT) in the WHO European Region, as part of the regional adaptation of the Post 2015 Global End TB Strategy.
