YU-SEE (former Yugoslavia – South-eastern Europe) network seminar on the impact of industries on young people’s health
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
Reason for initiation
YU-SEE was initiated by the organization No Excuse Slovenia with the aim of establishing a youth network of organizations working on the impact of different industries on young people's health in south-eastern Europe. A side objective was capacity-building and cooperation between former Yugoslav countries in the postwar period.
Strategies in place or planned
YU-SEE was established in early 2014. Together with partners and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), various activities were organized, including study visits, seminars, training for youth workers and evaluation meetings.
Outcomes and next steps
YU-SEE's main goal is the creation of a fully established network of NGOs and 90 trained youth workers focusing on environmental health. It aims to influence 1000 young people in the region. The next planned steps of the YU-SEE network are to continue with the agreed mission and to develop and expand the network across south-eastern Europe, specifically in Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo (in accordance with Security Council resolution 1244 (1999)), the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Turkey.
