Subregional training workshop on communications regarding vaccine-safety-related events

7–10 April 2015, Antalya, Turkey

The overall objective of the workshop is to improve the capacity, quality and effectiveness of communication responses to outbreaks and vaccine-safety-related events in the WHO European Region. The workshop is expected to focus on improving decision-making and the speed and quality of responses by ministries of health and national immunization programmes to such events, including situations where real or perceived adverse events are affecting trust and confidence.

The specific objectives of the training workshop are:

  • to provide training in communicating with the media, the public and health workers about outbreaks and vaccine safety-related issues;
  • to share experiences and strengthen the communication response capacity, taking into account case examples and lessons learned in the Region;
  • to train a group of professionals who will be able to run similar courses at the national level in the future, as needed.

Participants will include Ministry of Health officials (national immunization programme managers and staff in charge of immunization and communication responses to vaccine safety-related events) from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Turkey.
