Twitter chat: ask experts about food safety on World Health Day 2015
WHO/Europe, together with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), is hosting a live Twitter chat on food safety risks, recommendations to help minimize the spread of foodborne diseases, and the work of each partner in this area. Experts from each organization will be available to answer your questions.
The chat will take place on Tuesday, 7 April 2015, from 12:00–13:00 UTC/GMT (14:00–15:00 CEST/Copenhagen/Rome/Stockholm time).
A safe and nutritious food supply is essential for good health. Unsafe food can lead to a range of health problems, with new threats to food safety constantly emerging. In 2013, there were over 310 000 reported cases of bacterial foodborne disease in the European Union/European Economic Area alone, which resulted in 322 deaths.
