Regional consultation on WHO health-sector strategies for HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
23–26 June 2015, Copenhagen, Denmark
WHO/Europe is organizing a regional technical consultation under the overarching theme of universal health coverage.
WHO is developing global health-sector strategies for submission to the 2016 World Health Assembly. The proposed strategies aim to address the epidemics of HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs in the period 2016–2021, and are needed to guide the actions required to meet ambitious targets for 2030, which focus on ending the epidemics and/or eliminating the diseases concerned.
Key priorities for the strategies
The consultation will review progress in the European response to STIs, HIV and viral hepatitis and gather feedback on the emerging strategies from representatives of countries in the WHO European Region, civil-society organizations, professional associations and major partner organizations, as well as WHO representatives.
These leading experts will identify key themes, priorities and strategic approaches that should be reflected in the global health-sector strategies for 2016–2021. They will share experiences and identify key WHO and country actions to be considered in the strategies. The feedback gathered during this consultation will be used to inform the further development of the strategies and regional action plans.
