Introduction to laboratory quality management and the LQSI tool

7–11 September 2015, Copenhagen, Denmark

This first-time training is for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) laboratories participating in the Central Asian and Eastern European Surveillance of AMR (CAESAR). It aims to introduce a quality management system based on the international quality standard ISO 15189 and the Laboratory Quality Stepwise Implementation (LQSI) tool.

The 5-day module was developed as post-graduate training for laboratory managers, (future) quality officers and senior laboratory technologists to provide them with the competencies to implement a quality management system.

Participants of this course will proceed to work towards implementing quality standards in laboratories undertaking surveillance of AMR, in line with the implementation of CAESAR and the European strategic action plan on antibiotic resistance.

Satisfactory completion of this course aims to support the long-term goal of helping laboratories fulfil the requirements of the standard to achieve accreditation. The Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands developed the course for WHO.
