Biorisk management and infectious substances shipping training

This course, run through the Better Labs for Better Health initiative, targets professionals working in biosafety and biosecurity management, and aims to reduce the threat of infectious disease in laboratory environments. Participants are taught a methodology to identify and control biosafety and biosecurity risks present in biological laboratories. The course also trains and certifies shippers of infectious substances from laboratories in international transport regulations. Emphasis is placed on the categorization of these substances, and requirements for their packaging, labelling, documentation and refrigeration.

The course is supported by the European Union (European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development) as part of the project on strengthening health laboratories to minimize potential biological risks (contract IFS/2013/332312).
